The problem of dry eyes …

Almost one in five people know the problem: the eyes are stinging, scratchy, reddened, and feel as if filled with sand. This is also known as the dry eye syndrome. Many influences of daily (modern) life strain the eye and cause and trigger later discomfort and eye pain that may often be persistent.

Redness, fatigue, blurred vision and scratchy eyes are the first signs of eye discomfort. Over the time many other symptoms and serious complications can occur, like uncomfortable changings in vision comfort and infections.

How it works?

The eye service with tearstim® only takes a few minutes, sitting in a comfortably chair. Customer’s eyes are covered by protective eyecups. Hydrogel is applied to the lower eyelid. A series of light pulses is performed around the lower eye, gentle and non-invasive. The series is repeated in the same way for both eyes. The application restores the normal activity of the Meibomian gland, with very rapid improvement for the client within hours of the application. The effect of first 2 applications lasts a few days up to 2 to 3 weeks. The long-lasting effect is expected for minimum 6 to 8 months. The eye service comprises three to four sessions. It is recommended to repeat one application once a year to re-fresh the effect.


As a result, the dry lipid layer receives a natural boost of lipids, which reduces the evaporation of tear fluid and prevents the eye from drying out. In addition, the quality of the glandular secretions is improved, and the tear film‘s lipid layer is stabilized.

Following that, the effect will last for a period from 6 months to 3 years. An annual booster session in the form of a single eye service is recommended.

Easy & quick to use

It only takes a few minutes to perform an eye service using tearstim’s pulsed light technology (IRPL®). The device is ready for use within seconds: it doesn’t require any pre-heating. Self-explaining settings on the touchscreen


For optimum results, the applications are performed on Day 1, Day 15 and Day 45 (optional Day 75 in case of severe problems).

1 – before the application

After a consultation at the Optician to review the condition of vision comfort, the practitioner will assess skin phototype, which is graded from I (very fair skin) to V (dark skin). A short questionary is given to the client before each application. It aims to inform and check for any contraindication.

2 – during the application

The client is sitting in a comfortable chair. After cleaning the skin from any make up, the eyes of the client will be covered by protective goggles and the practitioner applies conductive gel on the cheekbone and the temporal areas. A series of 10 flashes is applied under the lower eyelid – starting from inner to outer side of the eye. The application is done the same on both eyes.

3 – after the application

tearstim® applications are non-invasive, simple and safe. Customers generally experience a relief within a few minutes following the session. Make up can be applied again on the skin directly after the eye service.


An eye service using tearstim® technology shall not be performed in case of any given contraindications. A questionary including a compatibility check list is assisting to verify any potential risk for the client.
